Shenyang is the hinterland of Liaodong Peninsula as well as the economic, cultural, transportation, financial and commercial center in the northeast region of China. It is adjacent to Japan, Korea, Mongolia and Russia and confirms as the biggest exchange center of capital, information and intellectuals in the northeast region. The campus culture in Shenyang Medical College and all over China includes well-arranged campus, sound personal relationships, courteous everyday behavior. The college often organizes host of community activities for university students, including scientific experiments, academic exchanges, art performances, sports, social service activities and so on. The foreign students can also volunteer to participate in community activities. Further, the college organizes entertainment performances, sports Chinese-speaking performance and traveling, and a number of other activities for international students. These activities can not only further deepen the foreign students' understanding of Chinese culture, but also promote the exchange of thoughts and culture between them and their Chinese teachers and schoolmates. Teaching is strictly conducted according to the teaching program and syllabus. It consists of classroom lectures, classroom discussions, laboratory lessons, exercises, guidance lectures and practicals. The medical college consists of nine departments: Medical Basic Department, Social Science Department, Foreign Language Department, General Education Department, two Clinic Departments, Protective Medicine Department, Health Management Department, Nursing Department and IT Center and Experimental Animals Researching Center along with College of Ophthalmology and Optometry and Adult Education School. In addition, there are 4 affiliated hospitals and one affiliated Health School and 14 teaching hospitals and practice bases.
The college has a good well facilitated gymnasium. It also has all major sports units, like football, basketball etc. The dormitory is well furnished. The twin sharing rooms has all the modern facilities with central heating, air conditioner, 24 hours running
hot and cold water, attached bathrooms and provision of common kitchen. Cafeteria inside the college premises is clean and healthy. All vegetarian and non vegetarian food are available as per need of a person. The food served is hygienic, fresh and available at reasonable prices as compared to market prices.
The college is equipped with advanced teaching facilities and modernized teaching methods to ensure education quality. It has amphitheater classrooms with all facilities like multimedia. The research and experiment lab rooms are well equipped. For students weak in English, the college has English language class. Simultaneously, for the non Chinese students a basic language course in Chinese is conducted. The clinic surgery teaching room is first in South Asia with on the spot teaching through a glass ceiling while a surgery is in progress. Foreign teachers from different parts of the world come as Visiting Professors. The school library itself occupies more than 11,000 square meters and possesses more than 3 lakh books with more than 2, 000 regular Chinese and foreign journal. The library or resource center at the university level and departmental level are open to students and provide them with a favorable environment for studying and research.
There are 14 key subjects and 5 researching facilities in the college. The college has done numerous research projects, research works and research papers. It has received countless prizes from different facets of society for the contribution made to the development of science, technology and society.
